Why removed ForceMaxFps from settings?
Manual set this parameter to 30 give stable fps in most games.
Read here 馃憠 #11768 why need to remove the UI but instead replace by compat.ini
While it worked for some and is necessary for God of War to work correctly, it had very bad effects on other games. So on average I thought it was best to get rid of it as a user accessible setting.
Which games do you play where it's useful? If it really does work well for some, maybe we should make it a more usable option than having to mess around with the ini to set it to 30.
Star Wars Battlefront 2, Crash Of The Titans, MediEvil Ressurection, Wall-E, Tomb raider anniversary.
If just use frameskip=1 in these games we get 20-30fps and 100-80% of speed.
With manual set ForceMaxFps=30 in ppsspp.ini
We get stable 29-30fps and 100% of speed.
Tomb Raider: Legends need ForceMaxFps=20 to work propertly.
Maybe need more test but this solution has helped more gamers from 4pda.ru
Thanks.
The "right" solution would probably be to make a list of what games this works well on, and for those games, replace the Frameskipping setting entirely with the framerate limiter instead. This would enable good performance without INI hacking.
Ok, i ask users reporting about successful experiments 馃憤
In "Web of Shadows" ForceMaxFps=30 make available increase render resolution
Maybe add section for manual setup FPS limit in developer menu for experimens?
@hrydgard framerate limiter is sounds good it could be added to v1.8.0?
After added Tekken 6 into prevent fps exceeding compat.ini seems running smooth now in the latest build 馃
Hm, surprised Tekken 6 is affected by that, but it should be safe so I'll just add it in by default.
Hm, from #2542 - we may want to add Fat Princess to this list.
