that scenario is supported and it should work, so let's try to understand why in your case it doesn't work.
Your remote machine is running Windows 10, what about your local machine, is it also running Windows 10?
If you exit PowerToys on the remote machine, does Windows Snap work on the remote machine?

Hi @PistachoLiberty
it is by design that the Remote Desktop window will not be snapped to a zone, because the Win + key commands are processed by the remote system, not by the local Windows.
If you exit PowerToys, so that Win + arrow will use the native Windows 10 snap functionality, you will see the same behavior.

This is not true. There is a difference between Remote Desktop and Remote Apps. Remote Apps are like normal applications except they are remote processes. They appear like local applications on the local desktop and the WIN key is handled by the local system like normal.

In fact without fancy zone I quite easily use the WIN arrow keys to move the remote apps around the 2x2 grid of my screen. When I turn on fancy zones it doesn't work.

Probably a duplicate of #441

@enricogior Perhaps we are both wrong here. I think @PistachoLiberty is talking about using fancy zones on the remote desktop when the remote desktop is focussed. That should work.

@PistachoLiberty can you please clarify if you are referring to Remote Apps?
Thank you.

Hello, @bradphelan and @enricogior,

I may have been a little vague with the steps to reproduce.

1- Initiate a remote desktop connection with the remote desktop that has PowerToys application installed on it and has FanzyZone already configured to your preference.
2- After the connection is established and the remote desktop application is in full screen, attempt to move application windows on the desktop you are connected to using the Win+arrow keys.
3- Notice how remote desktop windows do not respond to your keyboard inputs

The way I connect to the remote desktop is by connecting to a VPN network of my organization then remotely connect to my office's desktop as a LAN connection.

@enricogior
Both PC's are Windows 10 and have PowerToys installed on them. The Windows OS I am connecting from is in the Fast ring Insider Program. When I quit PowerToys in the remote desktop, I would get back the traditional window snaps using Win+arrow keys. I will look into it again as soon as I remote into the PC again and try to figure out if it is a setup or misuse of the tool.

@PistachoLiberty
are you still having this issue?
Have you tried the latest release 0.14.1? https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases
I'm closing the issue for now, but feel free to reopen it if the problem is still present.
Thank you.
