Does the Powershell included in Windows 10 as well as Powershell ISE versions need to be uninstalled or removed from Windows prior to installing v7? Or can all versions run simultaneously?

Thanks!

Versions 6 and above can all be installed side-by side with Windows PowerShell. 馃檪

Got it. Is there any reason to keep the old versions of Powershell and Powershell ISE installed? I believe they are removed through the turn on/off optional components, right? If I uninstall the old versions in favor of v7, will anything in windows be broken?

Yeah, many windows components are reliant on v5 of PowerShell I'd guess.

I'm not really sure you actually _can_ uninstall it, tbh.

That is exactly what I wanted to know. I will leave the old PowerShell version. Thank you for your help!

You can remove the Optional version PS 2.0 and should as its a security vector. 5.1 should be the only version of Windows Powershell installed.

I am pretty sure v5.1 is the installed version of Powershell that wss included with the Win10 installation. Just to clarify, by v2, you mean an old version of powershell and not powershell ISE, correct?

Correct. Under Optional Features you will see it enabled. This is a bad Windows default, same with smb 2.0. Uncheck those and reboot. You'll still have ISE (though VS Code with PS extension is much better).

Ok. To clarify, I want to uncheck Powershell 2.0 and server message block 2.0 but keep powershell ISE, correct?

Yes

Thank you.
