Poetry: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED trying to run get-poetry.py on Mac OS X 10.13.6

[X] I have searched the issues of this repo and believe that this is not a duplicate.
[ ] If an exception occurs when executing a command, I executed it again in debug mode (-vvv option).

OS version and name: Mac OS X 10.13.6
Poetry version: get-poetry.py as of today

Issue

I have a feeling this is due to a mac ssl issue, but I can't think what to upgrade and fix:
