Papirus-icon-theme: Some issues with Ubuntu Mate 16.04

Hi!!

I've just done a (fresh) install of Ubuntu Mate 16.04 in my laptop and added your amazing icon theme. I have some little issues which I had not before in Manjaro. I think that they are easy to fix.

The trash can icon with dark panels is hard to see:

Some apps doesn't look well, for example Minitube (Qt) or Synaptic (Gtk2):

In the Advanced Mate Menu some icons are difficult to see with light themes:

I've installed Papirus icon theme in my home directory, also libqt4-svg

trash icon used on file managers and other apps (for actions) - can't be fixed. Or need think how fixed this.

clipit, vlc, synapse - it's tray icons. Show because have one icon name for desktop file and tray.

@SmartFinn I think need delete NOT-tray icons from panel folder, because it's spoil style for some DE (Mate, Cinnamon):

• deluge
• vlc
• clipit-trayicon
• synapse

@varlesh Thank you very much for the suggestion, I've installed trashindicator and, as a workaround, it works. It's not the same as in previous versions of the theme (green-empty, red-full) but it's ok until you can find another fix (If it's possible, of course!! :smile: )

I was going to create an icon request when I've seen this in usr/share/applications:

I've seen that are other apps like JDownloader 2 that don't have the correct icon in Mate desktop.

@SmartFinn I've tried Arc-Dark theme but it doesn't work, still black trash icon if I use the mate applet...

@acutba Papirus-Dark-GTK not have dark icons! You change icon theme on settings for Arc-Dark?

However, in another computer I've installed Manjaro XFCE with the same combo Arc+Papirus and the trash applet is green when empty and red when is full...

icon synaptic available on Papirus, maybe on menu use another desktop? You can edit menu and see icon name?

Hi @varlesh !! After updating Papirus icon theme now it's more consistent and polished under Mate desktop, thank you very much!!! :+1: Most part of the icons are now ok, including the Control Center, which is amazing!! :smile: Only Onboard and Avahi are still white.

However, still have issues with some applets (desktop and trash) with dark panels and Synaptic:

Remove icon theme from home directory and install to root directory.

For better looking i'm recommend you use Papirus-Dark-GTK icon theme with gtk theme Arc Dark. It's better variant for Mate. Also if possible need increase height panel (more 22px).
For home and user-desktop icons used 16px icons - they monochrome!

@varlesh Yes, installing the icon theme in the root directory has worked for Synaptic!! :+1:

You're right also with the height panel, increasing height the icon trash applet changes... But at 32px mininum, too much!! :smiley: So, I will continue with Trashindicator as you suggested.

It's weird because with Xfce panel with the same height the trash can and show desktop icons are correct.

Onboard and Avahi are still white and hard to see in light backgrounds, if you want I can close this issue:

White theme not good looks with Papirus on Mate, because some icons used to another things.
For example, volume indicator use actions icons, but they black (because this icons for players):

• audio-volume-low
• audio-volume-high
• audio-volume-muted
• audio-volume-medium

Other DE use volume indicator for panel or symbolic icons.

• audio-volume-low-symbolic
• audio-volume-high-symbolic
• audio-volume-muted-symbolic
• audio-volume-medium-symbolic

or

• audio-volume-low-panel
• audio-volume-high-panel
• audio-volume-muted-panel
• audio-volume-medium-panel

Also this happened with others icons too:

user-desktop
user-trash

For MATE-devs will be better use another icon names for panel and applets. They use some actions icon for panel!!!
Now Papirus better use with dark GTK themes:
Use Dark version GTK and icon theme:)
