Owlcarousel2: to.owl.carousel not working when dots disabled

When settings dots to false, 'to.owl.carousel' doesn't work, throwing error:

This still doesn't look like it's been fixed... there must be a better solution than to just hide the dots

This plugin is so terrible... It just cant handle a basic event triggering an indexing in an array for what, 4 years now ? It's such an embarassment. I just spent 4hours trying to make it work, but with 687 opened issues, I think its a lost cause.
Please, kill this plugin to make everyone life better: maintainer and users.
