Created on 13 Aug 2017  路  8Comments  路  Source: OpenShot/openshot-qt

System Details:

  • Operating System / Distro: ? Ubuntu 17.04
  • OpenShot Version: ? 2.3.4
  • _Please attach log files if crash_

Issue Description and steps to reproduce:
I set the video profile to HD 1080p 25 fps. I place my videos clips in the project file. The video clips are a .MTS format. When I add them to the track or preview them from the project files. The video is elongated like the aspect ratio is off.

@trosanelli - Thanks. Do let us know.

@DylanC - I just checked it with the daily build and still does the same thing. I was using Openshot 1.4.3 and it worked fine when I upgraded to the current version I started having the problems.

@trosanelli - No problem. Thanks for the feedback.

In the Mac version of OpenShot 2.4.3 this is still a problem. With Handbrake I converted a DVD to mp4 files. The source was 720x576 25 fps and the target became 720p30. In VLC Player it looks normal, but in OpenShot it is vertical stretched in the preview. After exporting and playing in VLC Player it is also stretched. If I look at the file properties the width x height is 704 x 576 and the aspect ration is 704 x 405.

Now I don't know if I fixed it, but by right clicking the clip on the track and changing the layout to "show all (distort)" it looks better. Exporting and playing in VLC player also looks okay. There's also an option "show all (maintain ratio)"

If I look at scale properties to the left "distort" is "stretch" and "maintain" is "best fit". I think these properties are mistakenly swapped?
