Openhab-addons: [openhabcloud] Jetty request failed: null

Created on 28 Jan 2017  Â·  41Comments  Â·  Source: openhab/openhab-addons

Here are warnings I can find in my logs:

2017-01-26 19:42:16.119 [WARN ] [io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Jetty request 101571 failed: null
2017-01-26 19:42:16.254 [WARN ] [io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Jetty request 101464 failed: null

By the way, the binding is working well.

Maybe you could move this one to:
https://github.com/openhab/openhab.ios/issues/106#issuecomment-270998231

I think that is the right place.
I have no iOS devices but the warnings.
And the logs concern the binding itself.

As you like ...
I wanted just to mention that in Kai's opinion it should be moved to core.

Kai's opinion it should be moved to core.

... while I am not sure anymore why I suggested that. The old my.openHAB bundle used to live in openhab-core, but the new openhabcloud connector is actually right here in openhab2-addons. So let's keep this issue right here!

Hi, I also have the problem when using the android app. I also found out that (in remote mode) I've to refresh app a few times in order to see my items.
Any solution on the Jetty request failed issue?
(I'm currently running Snapshot 2.1.0 from 5th february)

I also found out that (in remote mode) I've to refresh app a few times in order to see my items.

I doubt that this is related.
The above comments all say that despite the warnings in the log, all works as expected.

I agree. Things are done ... but the reaction of the App is slow (even when internet connection is fast)
Another question:
I'm running the "current" unstable Release (2.1.0) from 5th february). Chris fixed a bug with the fibaro zwave smoke sensors. So I'm waiting for a new unstable version to test. Do you know, when it will be provided?

Another question

Hi @helmar74, actually this is an issue tracker.
If you have questions regarding other topics, you should better ask that in the Community Forum.

Have fun.

I seem to be having the same problem. New install. OH 2.1, openhabcloud-2.2.0.jar. The error seems to appear immediately upon reconnecting my Android to (but not disconnecting from) the home wifi network. But everything still seems to work, both locally and remotely.

Did someone solve this problem?!

@amedsaad: No, I didn't resolved it yet

But I guess it's just a warning a not an actual problem right?
has anyone reported an issue about it?

But I guess it's just a warning a not an actual problem right?

Yes.

has anyone reported an issue about it?

This post IS the issue

almost a year and a half later - still open? (the warnings are in my logs consistently since no matter the versions I have been running)

with Android mobile app i am getting following error while using webview element.

Same issue here - is some one working on this?

same problem here

is someone working on this issue? I have the same problem now :
2018-11-10 02:04:12.119 [WARN ] [io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Jetty request 6872995 failed: null
2018-11-10 02:04:29.702 [WARN ] [io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Jetty request 6873009 failed: null

Same here with android app

I too have this issue:

12:34:40.667 [WARN ] [.io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Jetty request 1672 failed: null
12:34:40.669 [WARN ] [.io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Response Failure: null

Me too:

2018-11-12 17:22:31.815 [WARN ] [io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Jetty request 4743846 failed: null
2018-11-12 17:22:31.820 [WARN ] [io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Response Failure: null

I had this issue too tonight. There are so many warn messages that OH stopped working, totally blocked by all log messages. I could not access Paper UI nor the cloud service.

Same issue since the m7 testing version. Especially when closing the app on my Android phone I`m getting lots of these warnings.

same for me in the last milestone, a lot of warning but the most annoying, it's necessary to refresh the UI

Which UI are you referring to? The last week I have paid special attention to manually closing and unloading the iPhone app after using it and have not had any warning messages. I am still on 2.3.0 stable. I have three webview elements in my sitemap.

Nothing like this since I uninstalled the cloud connector a week ago.

Same here always on "refresh" (swipe down) in the Android app with a sitemap in basic ui.
It doesn't happen on the web version of basic ui.

Ok, this famous warning is produced at this line: https://github.com/openhab/openhab2-addons/blob/master/addons/io/org.openhab.io.openhabcloud/src/main/java/org/openhab/io/openhabcloud/internal/CloudClient.java#L589
One solution would be to simply ignore the log when result.getFailure().getMessage() is null.
In this souce file, I see many many logger.errorand logger.warn, I am really not sure that the approprioate log level is used.
@kaikreuzer : WDYT ?
Same for result.getRequestFailure() and result.getResponseFailure()

First, apologies for formatting, or if this is overkill. I am not a Github pro / developer by any stretch.

This issue started for me today. Received the seemingly benign warning multiple times, followed by this exception in the logs:

After this, connection to my instance of OpenHAB Cloud Connector (self hosted) failed with a warning of:

Those exceptions continued until I restarted the nodejs app on my Cloud instance.

Hope this helps.

Please what do you mean by restarting the "nodejs app on my Cloud instance"?

I run Cloud Connector as a service using pm2 on Ubuntu 16.04.5 x64. So I ssh'ed into my Cloud Connector server and ran:

sudo pm2 stop app
sudo pm2 start app

to stop and restart /opt/openhab-cloud/app.js on the machine.

Then I rebooted my local OpenHAB, and it reconnected to the Cloud Connector without further exception messages in the logs.

I still get Jetty request XXXX failed: null log warnings when I refresh my Android OpenHAB app while outside my LAN, but the stream of errors / exceptions noted above ceased.

BTW: I am running OpenHAB 2.4.0-1 via Openhabian, and I stood up the Cloud Connector via a git pull performed on 1/5/2019.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: To further clarify, the message: Connection unsuccessful. An unexpected response was received while trying to connect to the configured OpenHAB server (received HTTP response code: 443) I noted in my prior comment was displayed on my Android app. I was able to get to the Web site for my connector without issue, although I did not try to log into the Web interface prior to restarting app.js.

EDIT2: (And apologies for the edits; I used to be QA in a prior life, but the habits of proper bug logging are very, very rusty): The stream of exceptions above occurred after I had manually refreshed my Android app 5 to 10 times in fairly rapid succession - over the course of a minute or two. I had noticed the Jetty request XXXX failed: null messages in my logs, so I connected my phone to VPN and refreshed several times in an attempt to reproduce the behavior so I would know it was benign. Turns out it wasn't so benign, at least for me.

Hi guys,

thanks for your excellent work on the project.

I am sharing my case hoping this can help someone here:

I have not been able to get notifications and receiving Jetty request XXXX failed: null error and IoS device on one of my OH instances (on the other all worked perfectly).
It all started to worked when in the IoS app I changed remote URL to "https://myopenhab.org:443" (from the default on the app, that also worked with my other instance, was something like "https://home.myopenhab.org/").

Now with "https://myopenhab.org:443" notifications work with both of mine instances and I dont get the Jetty warning (it feels good - it's been killing me for weeks;).

Hope this helps.
thanks and regards

For me adding the port does not fix it and I still get the NULL warnings even in my local network. What do I have to add to the org.ops4j.pax.logging.cfg file to get rid of the warnings and set the level to ERROR only? I tried following but I still get the NULL warnings.
log4j2.logger.io_openhabcloud_internal_cloudclient.level = ERROR log4j2.logger.io_openhabcloud_internal_cloudclient.name = io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient

I would be fine by ignoring the warnings since it seems everything is working as intended.
