Opencv_contrib: Build Failing on Ubuntu 14.04

Detailed description

Following the build guidelines given, my build terminates prematurely with the following messages

[ 97%] Built target opencv_interactive-calibration

I'm not able to understand what might be going wrong on my machine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

As a workaround you can try to disable Python bindings via CMake option: -DBUILD_opencv_python2=OFF

@alalek I'm using OpenCV using python, so I guess I cannot disable Python bindings

I'm specifically looking to use createLBPHFaceRecognizer() as I intend to use OpenCV to do some face recognition

Same problem with Ubuntu 16.04, adding -DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS=-fPIC -DCMAKE_C_FLAGS=-fPIC did not fix the problem.

Can't reproduce:

• Ubuntu 14.04
• Ubuntu 16.04

More details are required:

• CMake command line with used options
• CMake stdout (from clean build directory)
• files from build folder: CMakeCache.txt and CMakeVars.txt (as attachment)
• attach complete dump of make VERBOSE=1 (without any -j option)

Please keep both OpenCV codebases "synchronized". Your main "opencv" repo is outdated.

I update both opencv and opencv_contrib to the latest and it works fine now.

Yesterday:

• opencv (master) + opencv_contrib (master): fail
• opencv (3.2.0) + opencv_contrib (master): fail

Today:

• opencv (master) + opencv_contrib (master): ok
• opencv (3.2.0) + opencv_contrib (master): fail
• opencv (3.2.0) + opencv_contrib (3.2.0): ok

Hi,

I was facing similar issues, so I tried installing the master branch, both for opencv and opencv_contrib.
But when I checked the version of openCV (after installing ) using -

pkg-config --modversion opencv

It says the version of opencv is 2.4.9.1

I'm new to software development. Could someone please help out by explaining how to get latest version of openCV ( and it should work with master branch of opencv_contrib ) ?

Looks like your got information about system OpenCV library.
You could try to override pkg-config settings via:

export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=<... path to installed opencv.pc>
