Ocelot: Help wanted

Created on 3 Dec 2018  路  14Comments  路  Source: ThreeMammals/Ocelot

Hi Everyone,

You may have noticed that over the last few months I have not been responding to issues or merging PRs etc. The reason for this is that I have started a new job and it takes a LOT of my time. In addition to this my family circumstances are changing (good news!!) so I don't have the time to invest in Ocelot like I used to.

That being said I am hoping to do some work over the holiday period such as merging open PRs but I won't have time to answer many issues.

So on that note I am looking for someone / multiple people to help me run this project.

If you would like to help me out with the project please contact me by replying to this issue or emailing [email protected] :)

I am looking for people who love open source, have a good amount of C# experience, can use git and GitHub effectively. They must understand CI and be able to pick up AppVeyor and TravisCI (or move Ocelot to another CI) I will provide lots of guidance at first but my intention is for someone to come along and really start running Ocelot with a view to move it into the .NET foundation. A key requirement for this is having at least 2 maintainers.

In terms of what you will get in return unfortunately I cannot offer money!!! :) However I can assure anyone that having a successful open source project on their resume / CV can do nothing but good. It can really open doors and if you are the kind of person who likes speaking you can build a career out of training, consultancy, events etc.

I'm really hoping that people will come forward and offer to help out so Ocelot can continue to grow.

Thanks,

Tom

As, you may recall,I had donated Ocelot a few months before.https://github.com/ThreeMammals/Ocelot/issues/375
My profile as following:
1)I have been working using .Net framework for more than 8 years.
2)I have made the first online course of .net core in China.
3)I have made a course of Ocelot and .net core microservice architecture in Chinese.Honestly,I haven't studied Ocelot in depth yet.

If I could be involved in this project,I would take my efforts to do anything as I can.
I have about one hour per day recent. But I will abound free time after March 2019.

It's nice to see what you're saying good news, and although I'm busy too, I'd be happy to help you.

@geffzhang @yangzhongke I would love for you to help out! If I invite you to the Ocelot team will you accept?

@TomPallister Sure,It would be better if you could continue to be the Leader of Ocelot, just like Linus be the Leader of Linux.Because you are the key man of Ocelot.

I have accepted the invitation锛寃ould you let me know what to do?

I have accepted the invitation

Thanks!!! I will create a message on the Oceot core team channel with some actions that you can take.

Hey Tom, i would be glad to help you guys. I've contributed to ocelot in the past and i would love to continue doing it. I don't need to be on the team but take me into account for any task you want...
Thanks for your efforts to keep this project alive.

Hey Tom, I could also potentially help out. Although my time is somewhat limited, I've already written some extensions to Ocelot that we use internally at my company and was planning to contribute them back to the project (such as Redis caching and similar). I have a lot of ideas for the project and although I may not have the time to be a full time maintainer, I could potentially put in quite a few enhancements. I have a lot of experience that would probably be useful here.

Hi @TomPallister would love to help!

I have accepted the invitation.

Im in! :)

OK Ive invited everyone who said they were interested! I am going to close this for now :)

Thanks everyone and good luck!

@TomPallister I realise that this issue is closed for quite a while now, but I would love to take on a more active role in this project. Is there some place that the maintainers hang out in?
