Nylas-mail: Unable to add Exchange account

Created on 26 Feb 2016  路  20Comments  路  Source: nylas/nylas-mail

I'm unable to add an exchange account to N1. I have gmail accounts that work fine in N1, but I cannot add my exchange account. N1 says "Successfully logged in but could not sync mail. Please contact your Exchange administrator". However, my Exchange admin insists everything is fine, plus I can add the account to other clients without a problem. It is an exchange account being run through Zimbra.

I'm using N1 0.4.9-575c091 on MacOS 10.10.5, no 3rd party plugins.

Same problem here on Mac. Only gives the options of Gmail/G Suite, Outlook 365, Yahoo, iCloud or Fast Mail. I stopped using Nylas last year because of issues on Linux and thought I would try again on my work Mac. I hope this can be fixed.

Same issue here with N1-0.4.10 on Linux. Works fine with every other activesync client.

Same issue here with N1-040.10-4e3595b on Fedora but only for one of my two exchange accounts.

I've gotten this same bug in 0.4.10 on Ubuntu and Windows 10. Like @rickyjohansson said I am having no other issues with ActiveSync on any other devices. This is using Exchange through Windows Server 2008r2. On the Windows 10 machine, MS Mail, which also uses ActiveSync, works fine.

Same issue with Exchange. Already using iPhone / iPad to sync my mail (ActiveSync 14.1 for info). When adding my Exchange account to Nylas, another iPhone is added without phone number, and ActiveSync 14.0. But even if "successfully logged", ... "could not sync mail".

On win10 and Ubuntu 14.10
Outlook.com works fine.

Beautifull app, serious and first class work :)

Any updates or workaround for this issue? I have the same account setup on 2 other machines, but naturally, it's my work account and failed to setup on my work desktop. Go figure, eh? Would love to get this working here.

Huh. Tidbit that may be helpful. I've been screwing around with this thing all morning. What I ended up doing was resetting the world, then adding my Exchange account first. That left me unable to add my Google Apps account, but on this particular computer, I can live with that for a bit, hopefully long enough to get a real solution.

So on my other two machines, I was able to add my Apps account, followed by my Exchange account, with no issues. On this machine, I cannot add the second account, no matter which order I do them in.

This is a System76 Ratel Pro.

I am unable to create an Exchange account, but with different circumstances. I get a "Error connecting to the Server" message, despite having the correct exchange servers specified and the correct credentials. I have set up this account successfully in dozens of other clients, so I am confident that I am not using the wrong information.

Why are people not using Zimbra commenting on this though? >_<

@rickyjohansson We're investigating this specific auth error for Exchange! The problem is likely broader than just Zimbra.

Using N1 0.4.45-7637265 - My already added Exchange account today is unable to connect - even thought it has been connected and was being used before hand. Error is "Could not log into your Exchange server based on the credentials you provided. Please check your Exchange credentials. More help: https://support.nylas.com/hc/en-us/articles/217592077" - Suggested support page is a dead end. Any ideas?

I believe I'm also getting this issue but not the "successfully logged in"
Getting this error:
"Could not log into your Exchange server based on the credentials you provided. Please check your Exchange credentials-you may need to generate an app password. More help: https://support.nylas.com/hc/en-us/articles/221750227-Microsoft-Exchange-Login"

@cwRichardKim That's a different error. The link to the support page also has a link to Microsoft's guide for app passwords. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12409/microsoft-account-app-passwords-two-step-verification

@jackiehluo thanks for the quick response! I don't have two factor turned on, so the link is actually incorrect. I just tried logging into my server from a different device and all my credentials are correct. Any thoughts?

@cwRichardKim Can you send us an email at [email protected]? Easier to debug in private (and we can pull the discussion off an unrelated issue)!

I contacted support and had them delete my old account data in an attempt to get around this issue, which did not work. Is there any eta for having this fixed? I have cancelled my Nylas Pro subscription in the meantime.

Same problem here on Mac. Only gives the options of Gmail/G Suite, Outlook 365, Yahoo, iCloud or Fast Mail. I stopped using Nylas last year because of issues on Linux and thought I would try again on my work Mac. I hope this can be fixed.
