You have to install the compiler and build dependencies in order to build bcrypt.

Just add a step in your Dockerfile to install them:

I just encountered this issue, and would rather not have to install python to my docker container (trying to keep it as small as possible). If the release of bcrypt included binaries for the official Node.js docker container, that would be preferable.

@e-compton if you use docker multi-stage builds your final image won't be affected, since docker uses the intermediary steps to install, compile stuff, and then just copies the artifacts/binaries into a new clean node:alpine image.
