See https://github.com/qutebrowser/qutebrowser/issues/2319
Created this issue here because it seems to be specific to NixOS at this point, and we need a central place to track progress
Launch qutebrowser with --backend webengine and try to load a Google site.
Turns out using NSS instead of BoringSSL fixes that. QtWebEngine uses it by default if it's available (so I needed only to provide it).
@abbradar could you cherry-pick the relevant commits to release-17.03? I'm not sure which commits to qtwebengine are bugfixes and which are refactorings or other changes that I can't know if they break other stuff.. :)
@globin Already done (unless I was so sleepy I cherry-picked somewhere else :D).
Hmm, I just tried accessing google.com and get ERR_INSECURE_RESPONSE on 17.03 with ./result/bin/qutebrowser --backend webengine
Sigh, I _was_ sleepy -- cherry-picked but not pushed. Done now.
EDIT: they all are needed anyway -- changes to nss and srtp are so that QtWebEngine finds them properly.
Ah thanks :)
Confirmed working for me on unstable
@globin This doesn't appear to have reached 17.03 unless I'm missing something as I'm still seeing those errors.
@abbradar This hasn't been pushed to release-17.03 right?
Ah, that's because the patch was for 5.7 but it was removed from 17.03.
I'll backport it to 5.6 later today or tomorrow, thanks for notice!
