Ngl: Contributing to NGL ?

Created on 5 Aug 2020  Â·  2Comments  Â·  Source: nglviewer/ngl

Hi,

At work, we will use NGL a lot, and as developers we understand the energy and the efforts put into this lib (thanks a lot, btw!)

How could we contribute back to NGL ?

It could be code contributions, money donations or even paid contracts with maintainers to improve the lib (if applicable and/or ok with your governance policy).

Hi 0gust1; welcome! Contributions of time and code are always appreciated. You could look into some of the open issues, or find things that you think could be improved.

Welcome @0gust1! Recently most of the maintenance has been done by @garyo and me, and we'd definitely be glad of any extra help! As Gary said, code contributions and open issues would be a great place to start.

In terms of funding/paying someone to work on a particular feature, there’s no reason why you couldn’t do this from an NGL point of view AFAIK – the current governance is rather informal: the github/npm accounts and website are owned by Alex and a couple of us have maintainer privileges. If this is something you’d like to do then perhaps you could propose a few more details (scope of the work, who would do it etc) and go from there?
