Is there any way to establish a secure connection from a video source pushing RTMP to the server, for instance RTPMS or similar?

Yes, you can, author's blogspot have some methods.

Would you please like to put some example config here or post the URL to the mentioned bog post - there are no search results for "rtmps" on the blog and I did look at the posts back to 2012 but was not able to identify any relevant content. It would be really appreciated to see a working example config for how to provide a rtmps stream - thanks!.
