Nextcloud-snap: app updatenotification stopped Nextcloud 14 upgrade

Nextcloud was stuck in maintenance mode.
Manual upgrade resulted this error message:

UnexpectedValueException: The files of the app "updatenotification" were not correctly replaced before running the update
Update failed

Solution: disabling the app "updatenotification"

Huh, that app is automatically disabled in the snap, did you install it manually?

Actually, I have no idea, but sure it's possible that I did such a thing.

In case I manually installed the app (somewhere in the past), it may be worth knowing that it was not an issue until the last upgrade to NC14.

can you give a detailed instruction how you solve the problem. I have seen many user who had the same problem.

the update notification app was never installed manually in my installation, But i went into the same problem decribed above.

I'm sorry folks, my only guess if it wasn't installed manually is that an update was installed back in... Jeez, version 10 or something before we started disabling it in the snap, which means if you've had the snap for a super long time (like a Box) you may still have it.

Alright this is effecting a number of people. I'm having trouble figuring out how we got here, but I suspect that is a waste of time; the fix is easy, and something we can handle as part of the upgrade: make sure this app is disabled. I'll ship that fix ASAP. Thanks again for raising this issue.

Ah ha, finally duplicated it. If you had v10.0.1 installed and refreshed all the way through, the updatenotification app is still "enabled" in the database, even if the app itself is no longer present. The PR fixes it. I suspect you just saved a lot of other folks some pain.
