Ml5-library: submit ml5js to the p5.js website's libraries page

I feel like this would be helpful, especially to get in front of student's eyes. In my classes, students have a hard time traversing the endless JavaScript library terrain, and having a concise starting location like the p5 website is super helpful. Since Ml5 plays so nicely with p5.js It seems like an obvious fit!

Hi @bmoren - wow! excellent suggestion. ml5.js isn't exactly a p5 library, but we've been working hard to try to align it closely with p5 since we've found it to be the "friendliest" environment for beginner coders (and our students here at ITP/IMA).

I guess p5 libraries depend on p5 in order to function, but since ml5.js can standalone, I wonder if it might create confusion that p5 is a dependency?

CC'ing @shiffman here for additional thoughts.

Thanks so much @bmoren !

My understanding of the p5.js policy regarding libraries is that they should be aligned with the p5js mentality and be easy to integrate, have p5js examples, etc. (which ml5 clearly has!), but that they don't necessarily need to have explicit p5 functions.

rita.js is a good example of this. It's very p5 friendly, but not really p5 specific.

It could go either way, and I totally understand both directions, but I just thought it might be a nice way to expose this project to a/the broader creative coding community in a direct fashion!

@bmoren - oh! in that case, then it makes absolute sense to submit this to the p5 libraries page. Excellent. I didn't realize this, but you're totally right that rita.js is 100% this way.

I will add this to my todo list and will close this issue once I submit. Many thanks! 🙏

awesome!

Yes, and in fact @lmccart and I were just discussing the other day that we should add ml5 to the page!

Submitted!

For the sake of documentation, transparency, and posterity. Here's the submission:
