I've seen that errors before from my projects. It might be a build problem like node abi version mismatch from native modules. geth works fine.

Got the same error with Mist. Wallet seems to work fine though.

I get a similar error in Ethereum Wallet 11.0 on windows 10. The window just shows a spinny thing forever. I downgraded back to version 0.10.0 and the old one works fine.

We're having same issue with our windows electron builds for the MyCrypto desktop app. If anyone from Mist has triaged or debugged, feel free to share the love.

.node files are Node native extensions.
The issue you are experiencing has to do with prebuilt native binaries that are not compatible to your architecture/platform.
This is most likely a problem in our CI service probably with electron-builder which is not compiling the correct binaries of the scrypt module for the target architecture/platform.
@NineDfish The missing address report is unrelated - please find the correct issue or open a different issue for this.
@tayvano it is hard to say whether your issue is related to the scrypt module. If you are also using electron-builder it could be that this is the root of our common native module problem.

I don't see a quick fix for this atm. We will have to rebuild and distribute a new installer that fixes the problem.

Okay, so I've now established that pulling origin/develop, clearing yarn cache, reinstalling modules, and running yarn run build:electron:windows creates an executable with working Trezor and Ledger support for Windows.

Using npm at any step in the process (npm install or npm run build:electron:windows) causes a failure.

electron builder strongly discourages the use of npm and we were using only yarn.

Using windows64, I can confirm the error points to the native module (scrypt). Tests indicate this is the only compiled module causing such error.

The issue probably lies on electron-builder (lack of) ability to keep modules paths integrity during build time.

later today I'll make a fresh install cleaning all caches and try 20.17.1.

Update: we're still working on this issue — it seems electron-builder did mess up some native node modules.

@tayvano turns out our problem was that we've introduced a native module (scrypt) that couldn't be compiled by a Linux/Mac server, so we had to port our whole build process to run on a windows machine. That was fun :)

It suggests that scrypt is installed by wrong version node.

run npm rebuild scrypt --fallback-to-build , but there is no change.

I am building from the latest source version on Windows and have the same issue. It runs correctly if I visit http://localhost:3050 however when I try to launch electron it launches with a blank page, nothing in the console, no errors and no network requests. When launching from the command line I see the same errors others have reported above. Performing a fresh build on Linux does not yield any better results, just different errors.

@evertonfraga I'm running the meteor server. The app launches with basic html but does not perform any actions. There is no activity in the debug console. This is the same behavior that others have reported above since I can see scrypt.node errors in the command window and a blank electron window.

@evertonfraga Just to follow up I shut down the meteor server and saw that electron launched with a blank screen like you suggested, however this is not the issue I am having.

The issue with the latest build is that the bootstrap html loads up, I can see the loading graphic (spinner) and nothing else happens. I have the same result in Linux and Windows with the latest build. I tried building v0.11.0 in Linux and encountered other issues (which are also in the latest version).

If the wallet app can't connect to geth via websockets it loads the app correctly and renders so I know that electron is able to talk to meteor. After fixing the websocket issues I receive the same issue as reported above and the same errors (scrypt.node, etc) in the latest build in Windows.

I was able to successfully build and run v0.10.0 (f8ea87c) using electron in Linux but please note all other higher versions have other issues not related to this bug ticket when building from scratch.
