menu -> accounts -> backup -> application datanode.log and all other node.log.X files What happens when you go to Accounts->Backup->Accounts? On a mac it opens the folder where the keystore file is. Doesn't it do the same for you?

So you have a entirely new Ethereum-Wallet client? And it is just syncing? If you've not added any accounts to it, there won't be any to backup.
The sync does take a while. But if it is taking too long check that you are on a fast network, that it is finding peers, you're preferably not behind a proxy, etc.
If you have any accounts added, then you should be able to find them, depending on your platform, under:
I have the same problem, and I sent ethers to an account that showed on the app, but there is no wallet file , those directories dont' even exist. OMG
That could be trouble. :-( Hope you get the keystore file.

In any case, I guess you can close this issue then.
Problem solved guys, i had installed the ethereum wallet on C: drive, and then the blockchain on the F:drive, so the wallet file was on roaming folder of the F=:drive, where i retrieved the wallet file which i succcessfuly used on another wallet program, pheeewww.
