Mist: How to replace Geth Binary with Hotfix

Hello I want to learn how to patch this up using the hotfix instead of waiting for the new 0-8-3 release tomorrow. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it.

edit: We released Ethereum Wallet 0.8.3 with a hotfix today: https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases

_deprecated:_

1. download the binary of geth 1.4.12 from here
   
   
   
   • linux64
   
   
   • linux32
   
   
   • win64
   
   
   • win32
   
   
   • mac
   
   
2. rename the binary to geth (for linux, mac) / geth.exe (for win)
3. replace the old bundled version of geth:
   
   
   
   • for win: Ethereum-Wallet-winXY-0-8-2\resources\node\geth\geth.exe
   
   
   • for linux: Ethereum-Wallet-linuxXY-0-8-2/resources/node/geth/geth
   
   
   • for mac: Ethereum-Wallet-macosx-0-8-2/Ethereum-Wallet.app/Contents/Frameworks/node/geth/geth

@luclu Thanks however I am having issues with it downloading any blocks. It seems to just be frozen?

@luclu I replaced the geth file, then restarted my Mac, it's working now, thanks!

Geth was replaced to 1.4.12, but it's still impossible to sync. Take a look please at first screen: here is a date of geth creation - 19/09/2016 (as an evidience, that it's actual file)
Second screen shows the failure.

Is there any option to continue syncing without usage 0.8.3 installer?

UPD: After 10 hours, sync has moved from 2 283 415 to 2 287 782, but chain is still not synced.
