Microsoft-graph-docs: Unable to authenticate using Power BI

Created on 11 Jun 2018  路  8Comments  路  Source: microsoftgraph/microsoft-graph-docs

Issue: I am no longer able to connect to the Graph API from Power BI. I usually import data using the OData Feed https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/users but I am unable to authenticate.

I have tried using multiple accounts on different tenants. Accounts are Global Admin within the tenant and also have Graph permissions. Executing the query within Graph Explorer works fine.

When attempting to access via Power BI I get the error:

Access to the resource is forbidden

I have only noticed the issue in the past few days however I have not used this connection method for over a month prior and it worked previously.

Are you authenticating directly in the Power BI application and using https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/users as the URL to call?

Could you please provide a correlation id and datetimestamp of when this error occured? Thank you

Hi Jeremy,

Yes that's correct, I am using an OData feed in the app and authing using my organizational account.

[cid:[email protected]]

Unfortunately it does not provide a correlation id or timestamp for the error. I have tried with multiple accounts in different tenants. If I log into Graph Explorer and query the users that way using the same account it returns the results which should rule out a permissions issue. The only difference I could see is that even though I log in using the contoso.com account it shows the UPN as contoso.onmicrosoft.com within Graph Explorer.

Hello,

@jthake-msft : any update on this ? it's seems since June it's no longer possible to connect API Graph to PowerBI wit an OData feed. Is there any possible workarround ?

Thx

There hasn't been any progress. I actually kicked the fire last week and some of the PMs on PowerBI side have started to think about it. I agree this is very frustrating and am trying my best here. The pressure needs to be on the PowerBI side to put resources on this for it to change.

Many thank for those infos

is there any url link on PowerBI (github) side about this issue we could follow ?

Hello @jthake-msft,
Are some news about this? Some workaround?
Many thanks for answer.

Any update? I have the same issue and I can麓t finish my job.
Many thanks to answer.
