Metasploit-framework: How to update Exploit database?

Created on 18 Jan 2015  Â·  5Comments  Â·  Source: rapid7/metasploit-framework

Allthough searching the internet for time, I cannot get it working.
My Metasploit is fresh installed on Kali. But I cannot get the database of exploits updated.
Show Exploits keeps giving me only old ones.

Please help.

Hello,

Thanks for your quick reply to my mail.
Unfortunately msfupdate doesn't do the trick for me. It will update the
Metasploit-framework.
But when I start mfsconsole the startup shows me the same amount of
exploits loaded.
And SHOW EXPLOIT will show me no new exploits. The latest is from 2012 I
think. (cannot check it now)

Please help me,

Best regards,
Gert

.

There is no separate updater for exploits. msfupdate updates everything. Either you are mistaken, or something is wrong with your configuration.

to update exploitdb:
searchsploit -u
if you do not have -u option:
replace your searchsploit executable with the one from here:
https://github.com/offensive-security/exploit-database/blob/master/searchsploit

Perhaps use db_rebuild_cache from within the console? Database might need an update. Also msfdb init might help?
