Metamask-extension: Fund not accessible / not able to export private key

I've switched MM to mainnet after spending some time on my own local RPC.
Saw their was an account there, sent some ETH to it. However, I can't see my balance (see screenshot above), and when I try exporting my private key the window flickers and remains in the "I understand" form. Please help.

Not sure if it'll help, but there is an update for chrome for version 57, fellow 16.04 user~

Yeah @rmerom, can you go into local storage from the chrome extension, load the key metamask-config and give us the prettified format? That would be great.

Also, if you could give us a front-end state dump by going toInspect Popup and from the console typing out logState() if you may.

@rmerom while your state dump did not include any exposed raw private keys, the encrypted blob could be brute forced. I censored those values here but we should consider them leaked. I reccomend migrating your funds to a new seed phrase when you are ready.

Okay so while posting that publicly was basically a huge security taboo, a little good news:

1. Your accounts were still encrypted, so if you have a strong password, it could still be secure for that long.
2. Those accounts don't hold that much (about $25 in ether right now)
3. That information was really useful for learning more about your situation.

What I learned:

• Your metamask has this account selected, as you know, 0x95cED938F7991cd0dFcb48F0a06a40FA1aF46EBC.
• While this account is selected, just like the error suggested, it does not seem to exist in your vault.
• I've never seen a problem quite like that, I'm pretty curious.

One way to probably get your account back into a good state is to click the Change Account button in the top right, and pick a different account.

My guess is that after picking another account, you won't see this account anymore in your list.

I have a theory that you might see this missing account if you click the Add Account button again at the bottom of the accounts list. It's probably the third or fourth account.

Bonus curiosity:

I see you nicknamed this account First, but according to what I saw in your vault, it wasn't the first account you had generated with metamask. Your first account seems to have been 0x388686dd3a10b6074942d5c574dfbc9c0e98ff1e. When you named it first, what did you mean? Had this been your first account? Had you imported this account, because it was your first somewhere else?

If it had been, another question: In the past couple of months, have you had a moment when you opened metamask, and it notified you of some accounts being migrated from an old vault format? Were any of your accounts ever labeled LOOSE in the account list?

Workaround

If none of this works, and you want to just get on with using metamask (sorry for taking so long to give this serious time), AND IF YOU HAVE YOUR SEED PHRASE BACKED UP, then you can always safely uninstall & reinstall metamask to clear weird state problems.

if you'd like to experiment with reinstalling and recovering from a seed phrase without losing any data, I suggest using chrome's Profiles to create a temporary fresh browser.

1. click on profile name (top right)
   

2. add person (bottom right)
   

3. navigate to https://metamask.io/ and click on "Get Chrome Plugin"
   

4. install
   

5. "import existing den" at bottom

If this happens, you should be able to select a different account using the "Switch Account" button in the top right.
