When is next releasing ?
We don't have any ETA, we keep iterating on the branch.
The current plan is to publish alpha versions every week as components are improved.
Then start publishing beta releases once all the component are migrated, or we think enough have been migrated.
Then prereleases to address the blocking issues raised by users.
@oliviertassinari I am using next version in my current application ( a lot of work is done using this version) and lately I am seeing some bugs ( which I know are expected in alpha version) .I would like to know if there gonna be major changes in the next releases ?Thanks
It depends on what you mean by major changes. I think that it's following the following model. The probability of major changes is inversely correlated to time. The more we move forward, the more likely we are to have found the right solution/tradeoff.
Quick question, we are using [email protected], and have been holding-off on upgrades till the APIs get stable. As per the mui roadmap, prerelease is in progress, I hope the amount of breaking changes in the API for existing components will be few. @oliviertassinari what would you say?
@SukantGujar I would advise you to be up to date with material-ui@next. Holding off on the alpha won't make the upgrade process easier, the opposite actually (where you might have cross-dependency issues and outdated documentation).
I only have the visibility for 2-4 breaking changes I want to introduce in the library in the near future. Then, it's about the issue users are raising, people surface problems that sometimes require breaking changes to be introduced.
We had paused the upgrade because the churn was a little much to handle earlier (esp. with styles) and most of the requirements we had were fulfilled by alpha. Its a large project using several mui components. We wanted to resume the efforts once the waves'd have calmed a bit. We have been keeping an eye on the components we use and things seem to have stabilized now. Alright, will jump in, thanks @oliviertassinari!
