It would be awesome if we could toot by email, this is useful for people with low bandwith, bad connectivity or with limited Internet access but that have access to an email account. In my case my connection speed is really low and expensive.

We can already receive emails with notifications like direct messages, when someone mark our toot as favourite or when someone follow us. Being able to toot by email is the only remaining feature to make possible to use mastodon efficiently in 2G and other low speed or unstable connections or for people that don't use a "modern" browser or don't want to waste bandwidth.
Since people often say that mastodon is similar to email (also email is decentralized and usernames are similar to email addresses) I think it will feel somewhat natural to be able to post by email.
