Mastodon: filters in home timeline also apply to lists

Created on 5 Jul 2018  路  3Comments  路  Source: tootsuite/mastodon

Keyword/phrase filtering PR changed the filtering behavior. Previously, it was possible to add filters to home timeline without affecting other columns. Now when I add a filter for home it will also filter my lists.

My use case is that I do not wish to have duplicate toots in both the home timeline and lists. For example, I have a news list where I follow bots that can dump a lot of toots at once, and that makes a mess of the timeline. After the latest change to how filtering works there's no longer a way to separate the timelines.

I opened a feature request earlier to allow adding accounts to lists without following them. Another alternative would be to toggle whether accounts in lists also show up in the home timeline.

Would you like "Lists" to be a separate context within filter options?

I think it would make sense to be able to specify filters for each list independently. For example, I might have a "programming" list where I only care about specific languages, but I might want to see news about other languages in a "news" list.

Any news on this?
