Mastodon: Can't click on favorite/boost notification for zero-width display names

Created on 6 May 2018  路  3Comments  路  Source: tootsuite/mastodon

Hello there.

I discovered an account without a visible username display name. It's not the first time i did, just reporting it now. I don't know what causes this or if there is a white-space.

Whatever the case, blank usernames display names make it hard to open that account's profile page as there is no clickable area. This could confuse people (including me at first). 馃槙 I had to open the list of likes of that corresponding toot and search for that account in order to be able to visit its profile.

Giving the clickable area a minimum size could work, too. Not sure what would be better.

Honestly, it wouldn't be too bad if that whole "display name did x" box was clickable? Just as a minor enhancement.

This is a display name, not a username. Actually blank display names fall back to usernames. This user is probably using invisible characters. That's not nice but I don't think it warrants a bug report

I think it breaks the interface if invisible characters are unclickable. I cannot visit the profile of that account using the notification.

I would suggest giving the clickable area a minimum size, if display names contaning only invisible characters should remain possible (which i would be okay with).

Another solution would be to make the profile pictures beside notifications link to the other person's profile instead of my own, like it's done with reactions / comments.

Or fall back to the username if only invisible characters are given as the display name.
