Mastodon: Mute conversations/threads, not only from notifications

I'd like to be able to mute responses to posts (of mine, mostly). This is also a Twitter feature that I like very much.

  • [x] I searched or browsed the repo’s other issues to ensure this is not a duplicate. There are several requests to mute CWs, hashtags, or words.

Oh, I just found out what went through my head – you can't mute conversations you're not a part of. Sometimes folks in my timeline discuss stuff I have absolutely no interest in, and muting those convos would be great.

Is this what you mean?

It's already possible. For doing so, open a toot's contextual menu by clicking on the "…" symbol and then select "Mute conversation".
The mute conversation option

I, erm, yes. Sorry for that.

@rixx No problems, don't worry :).

I have done this several times. :P #relatable

This also only mutes notifications. It does not hide the conversation from any other views, so it is different from Twitter's implementation and is somewhat misleading.

Adding screenshot of the current situation in 2.4.0rc4. PII removed. Came in hoping to see this being discussed. I have a viral toot in my TL that 100% does not resonate with me. Mute of a toot functionality would help remove that stress.

@bunnybooboo You might be interested to see Hide a specific status #1669 then!
