Mastodon: Choosing to reply (or to stop replying) empties the composition textbox

When composing a post, if you decide to send it as a reply to a different toot (e.g. someone deletes + reposts something you were replying to, or in general) -- or if you decide to not reply -- the textbox for writing a post will be blanked.

Writing a post, then trying to reply to one:

Writing a reply, then choosing to not reply:

This causes whatever was being written to be lost, with no way to recover it.

This issue is extremely annoying when using the "delete and rewrite" option to remove the reply association of something you posted.

Figures, I tried finding "reply" + "clear"/"empty" and didn't see that one.

@Xkeeper0 If you're happy with the older issue/bug report, you could close this one?
