Markup: Mentions in а "credits" file

Is it reasonable for mentions to render automatically in a credits file following some naming convention (or other identifiable structure), for example CREDITS.md?
It would seem like a common usecase.

It is good practice to give credit, therefore it is useful to encourage it with tools.
