Mailspring: Fastmail Alias Usability Improvement

Created on 8 Feb 2019  路  1Comment  路  Source: Foundry376/Mailspring

I like how easy it is to add aliases in Mailspring, however the below would make aliases much more useful for the way I use them.

Fastmail allows me to receive mail to @.mydomain.com . However when I reply to an email from [email protected], unless I have that alias set up explicitly, the email will be sent from my default send address. It would be great if I could reply and mailspring would set up the alias automatically depending on which email address received the email.

I imagine this would be the same case for GMail with [email protected].

EDIT: alternatively, have the from address editable when sending an email instead of forcing an alias to exist.

This seems like a great idea. I think it should be safe to allow you to send from the email address the email was sent to on most providers. I'll do a bit of testing and see 馃憤
