I can't link my outlook.com email. I selected the Office 365 option per your knowledge base article but get the error... "Connection Error - Unable to connect to the server / port you provided. (SMTP)"

I have exactly same issue. The log file looks almost exactly the same.
My operating system is Arch Linux.

Same here. And, when I _do_ get it connected (using the IMAP/SMTP option and not Office 365), it stays connected for maybe two or three minutes, and then I get the error message, and go to the accounts page, and my Outlook accounts (I do have more than one) are all red, along with two q.com (CenturyLink, my internet provider--used to be Qwest, which accounts for the q.com domain) addresses, _and_ an icloud.com address.

I had to goto IMAP..type in a fake account...then when I got to IMAP settings enter everything for outlook account.. its all working but not desired way of doing this.

Hey folks thanks for reporting this—the "Office 365" option is just a simplified version of the IMAP/SMTP flow with some options pre-selected, so going through IMAP/SMTP to add the account should be OK. It sounds like our presets might be wrong though somehow. Will see if I can resolve this today.

Hey folks - this has landed in 732322893c7ab92338edd6d564a5dd4dec534159. In the next update, I'm expanding the onboarding account picker and making Office 365 and Outlook / Live / Hotmail separate options - I think this will make it a lot easier. I also signed up for a paid O365 account as well as an Outlook.com account to test both. Honestly the product differentiation Microsoft has done is super confusing... O365 Outlook is a totally separate product from Outlook.com / Live.com which is the old Hotmail re-skinned. Fun fun fun...

In case anyone else has this issue, the clue I found to solve this issue was here: https://foundry376.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001882152?input_string=cannot+add+outlook+account. For some reason a lot of the material I found concerning how to add an Outlook account to Mailspring failed the mention you may need to use an app password. Go to https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage/additional. Under 'App passwords' click 'Create a new app password'. Use the password provided to add your Outlook account.

The only thing I can think of is that I use Microsoft Authentication, which probably isn't supported at the moment.

Let me know if I can put this comment on an updated thread.

Same problem here, tells me always that Username or PW is wrong which isn't... I copied and pasted it out of keypass and the browser. with my normal gmail it is working but not with old hotmail :(
I appreciate mailspring a lot and I would really appreciate a fix of this and leave a big thank you in advance for your effort :)
Btw I use Manjaro KDE

Hey guys, I'm having a similiar problem but, instead of saying that I can't login, everything goes without any warning and Mailspring says that the connectiong went 100% fine. But, when we go back to the main page no account is added. For some reason I can't find the logs but here is a screeshot of the console:

I think for now the solution is to downgrade to 1.7.2 until a bug fix patch is released .
1.7.2 is working fine on my manjaro pc .

if you are on debian based u will find it on the releases section , or if u are like me on arch based system look for your packages cache u may find it, or just for now do like me and install mailspring-libre from the AUR till the next release appears :smile: .

Tested 1.7.2, got my hotmail box added for at last 1 minute then it dropped.
Unable to add it again....

Probably some change from Microsoft.

I'm running MailSpring 1.7.4 and I have this issue as well. I used all sing in methods (Office365, Hotmail/Outlook, and IMAP/SMTP) with no luck.

As @navid-ahrary commented MailSpring says "Account successfully added" splash shown but nothing added to accounts. I think that you must implement Microsoft Authenticator, that must be the only way to add Hotmail accounts.

Edit:
I've downgraded the app to 1.7.2 and I could add the Hotmail account.

I was using MailSpring 1.7.4 and I got this issue too. I'm using Snap package in Linux Mint 19.03. I tried MailSprint 1.7.5 in edge channel, and works.
