@miguelbalparda do you confirm that you was able to reproduce the issue on vanilla Magento instance following steps to reproduce?

  • [x] yes

This can be fixed by adding a parameter like "ignore" to bin/magento setup:backup since it's quite common to have non-system folders in the root folder which devs don't want to include in a backup.

@miguelbalparda I think we need to add this feature in Magento Backup CLI?

Yes @milindsingh, this should probably be added to Magento\Setup\Console\Command\BackupCommand IIRC

@miguelbalparda Thanks for the comment. Can you please provide me with the location of Magento IIRC?

I'm not sure what you mean @milindsingh, this is one of the many sites we host.

Oh I thought IRC channel.
What are the exact permissions did you apply?

@miguelbalparda,

it's quite common to have non-system folders in the root folder

Any reason for that? I saw such junk a bunch of times, or even some test.php or phpinfo.php in the root, but it was never a reasonable solution.

Hi @miguelbalparda thank you for you report, It will be processed faster if you move this to https://github.com/magento/community-features

I can understand why you might think this is a feature but right now this issue is affecting a very large of all Magento 2 installs as far as I can see. So the question is: fix a bug that is affecting almost everybody or call it a feature and send it to die in another repo?
