So should we wait for the upstream chart? I saw there has been no activity for last 17 days on the PR.

I personally don't mind do 1:1 (or almost) move to Helm chart, but I'm curious what @johananl thinks about it.

There could be some "invisible" activity there. I'll check with the person who is working on it and update. I'd avoid creating our own chart since we should have the upstream one very soon.

I've talked to the author of the upstream chart. The chart in https://github.com/metallb/metallb/pull/658 is basically ready but he's still working on a CI pipeline to publish the chart to a place where it can be consumed directly by Helm. Since we basically "vendor" upstream charts anyway, I think we can just fetch the files from the PR and see if things work properly for us.
