On every LMMS track there are currently two buttons for solo & mute buttons.
But if we want to enable our midi keyboard we have to go much deep inside , similarly to record we have to go in piano roll. these are all time consuming & affect our workflow.
I am suggesting an idea for which no much coding is needed , only linking my suggested 1. Midi-in ENABLE/Disable,
2.Record&play small buttons to existing GUI.These Tiny buttons must be near Solo & Mute buttons as shown in PNG I uploaded here with.
(Enabling Default Midi-in device as soon as we click on an instrument is also an awaited feature . I am new to c++ coding. I guess It will be same as enabling pc keyboard input as soon as we click on an instrument on a track. A if ..Else logic must be there.)
But till that day , my current suggestion of providing Two Tiny buttons on GUI
where the SOLO & Mute buttons are there is worth implementing.

Hope this will be implemented in LMMS recent update.
Thanks. You Developers are doing great job. And our well wishes are with you.
I tried uploading PNG 100 times but not uploaded.
Hence for just an idea plz refer this below

1.MIDI IN ENABLE/DISABLE
2.RECORDwPLAY START/STOP
3.MUTE
4.SOLO
We have a quick menu in the gear currently:

A MIDI toggle would be nice (use the last used MIDI input device perhaps?)
I would love this feature, and would be happy to implement it.
The re-estate on the instrument buttons is very valuable, and is already 'earmarked' for a channel indicator #4877.
we kind of already have an option for fast select, though. Current there is no feature on right-click cogwheel. This could be used instead of adding more diods on the instrument-button

(-The color is meant to 'glow' like a diode)
It also gives a larger click-target for the user
Any Progress?
Recently in master was merged patch which auto assign active track to midi device specified in settings. Theoretically it open possibility to recording toggle for instrument tracks with starting record exactly in current "track bar" position.
