A GigaSampler file should be available to test GigPlayer.
Should we create one? What kind of sound should it have?
Should we create one?
In Debian, there is not a single gig file. It would be nice to have one. A link to a random example could be added to the documentation.
What kind of sound should it have?
Anything would do. For instance, a piano patch.
Not entirely agreed
Isent those giga files -well... giga in size?
I mean, if lmms.exe gets blown to gigabyte size, then i would say no, imo
@musikBear we wouldn't ship gigabyte samples, no worries.
The example I mentioned is 84 MiB uncompressed; this does not seem acceptable. I believe a GigaSampler file can be much smaller.
I agree on a (compressed) piano patch.
If it's small enought, we might even set it as default for GigPlayer.
I really like the piano on https://www.linuxsampler.org/instruments.html but it's something like 500 MiB uncompressed. I like the idea of linking to some good ones in the docs.
Maybe we can convert one of the sf2 patches/pianos in fluid-soundfont-gm to GigaSampler format?
