The LeakCanary app recently installed itself on my Android 10 phone. The app points users to this GitHub repo. I never asked for it to be installed. When I open the app I see "This is a dev extension for Opal Travel".
Just don't. Or ask Opal Travel not to.
I'm sure you've got a great tool here, so why make people hate it by installing an app/launcher icon without permission.
Hello!
Thanks for bringing our attention to this!
So, what happened is that Opal Travel accidentally shipped their new version with LeakCanary debug tool. It's not dangerous, but rather a mistake that other developers also have done in the past. We are very explicit about not including LeakCanary in the release version of the app, have some internal checks to prevent it from happening, yet, still mistakes happen.
I have already contacted Opal Travel developers and notified them about this issue. Hopefully they will fix it soon and then LeakCanary will disappear from your phone.
Thanks again for reporting this!
