Problem with fresh Laravel project. I nstall another one week ago, and there no problem.

I am experiencing the same issue with those versions but instead of Windows i use macOS 10.12.3.

I'm having the same issue. Problem occurs after reinstalling the project.

I tried to remove node_modules and run npm install again but problem still appears.

It's actually an error in friendly-errors-webpack-plugin, resolved here.

Bumping it to 1.6.1 should solve the problem

I was having the same issue today on a clean install of a project. During the time I started trying to debug it, this entire thread took place as well as the issue on the friendly-errors-webpack-plugin issues page.

Now resolved w/ npm update after the patch.

Everyone else, do npm update laravel-mix and you'll automatically pull in the patched friendly-errors-webpack-plugin tag.
