PhpSpreadsheet is not released yet, but I'm :+1: to replace PhpExcel when PhpSpreadsheet is released

Thanks for the response. I just found that there are some other issues related to this.

Did you tried the spout, https://github.com/box/spout?

I think that supporting other spreadsheet packages is on @patrickbrouwers mind.

He is moving PhpExcel implementation to a Driver-like configuration on 3.0 branch

@nasirkhan actually, check this out https://github.com/Maatwebsite/Laravel-Excel-Light

It's already use spout :)

3.0 will be PhpSpreadsheet and will have an option to use Spout instead. Laravel Excel Light is a temporary / experimental version of Spout. It will be moved to 3.0 as soon as PhpSpreadsheet get's released.

awesome! thanks for the update.

@vladyslavstartsev thanks for the information. A stable L-E 3.0 will probably take a bit longer, but we'll do our best.

Any news on implementations or release dates for v3? Not trying to be pushy here, just gathering some information to pick what package and version to use.

Thanks for all the work maintaining this one!

Any information regarding v3. Is the version 2.1 working with php7.1 and Laravel 5.5?
