After two years it is time to renew the 3 elected members of Kratos Technical Committee (KTC)
Candidates should have sustained contributions to the open source part of the project. This includes not only the code itself but also the documentation, GUI, etc...
For announcing the nomination please reply in this issue using following template:
The deadline for nomination is May 6th at 12:00 CEST
Any member of KratosMultiphysics project in GitHub (currently 112 members) can participate in this election.
It is important to register for voting by sending an email to @maceligueta ([email protected]) with subject Kratos Technical Committee and a message including your @GitHub user and the email you want to use for voting.
The deadline for registration is May 6th at 12:00 CEST
Mentioning @KratosMultiphysics/all
Presenting for the KTC
Full Name: Carlos Roig @roigcarlo
Who am I?: Hi, my name is Carlos, my background is in Computer Science and I've been working in CIMNE for the last 8 years. I am currently developing core features for Kratos as well as taking care about DevOps tasks (Releases, CI, QA, ...) and current member of the KTC.
Message / Slogan: Chances are that if you have had a problem with your code you ended up speaking with me at some point, and this also what I can add to the technical committee if I am elected again. On the other hand, coming from a CS background gives a vision that is often different from the one of the other members which is also helpful when trying to solve design challenges. In conclusion, if you like what we have been doing this past two years, Vote for me!
Presenting for the KTC for the first time
Full name: Guillermo Casas @GuillermoCasas
Who am I?: Like many of us at CIMNE, I am a Civil Engineer. My PhD was on the numerical simulation of particle-laden flows, so my expertise is closer fluid dynamics, although I have been involved in a varied range of problems inluding solids and granular matter. My activity in Kratos has been linked to the development of SwimmingDEMApplication and, more intermittently, to DEMApplication. Recently, I joined the @KratosMultiphysics/implementation-committee, where I have learned a lot about other apps and about Kratos in general. I am particularly interested in solving real-world problems with Kratos.
Message/Slogan: I was encouraged by my colleague @maceligueta to present my candidature since he decided not to do so this time. I represent the point of view of the particles' methods in Kratos and, perhaps even more strongly, that of those interested in inter-application coupling, since that is essentially what SwimmingDEMApplication does. My intention is to make sure that the quality of Kratos keeps increasing and to always think about innovation. I believe the future success of Kratos especially depends on its capability to accommodate an ever-increasing complexity and diversity of numerical methodologies.
Presenting for the KTC for the first time
Full name: Rubén Zorrilla @rubenzorrilla
Who am I?: My name is Rubén Zorrilla MartÃnez. I have a Bachelor in Engineering and Sciences of Building, a Bachelor in Construction Enginering and a M.Sc. in Numerical Methods. I joined CIMNE more than three years ago while I was doing my M.Sc. thesis. Nowadays I am folowing a Civil Engineering Ph.D. program at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). My research mainly concerns Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), mainly focusing on implicit geometry representation formulations, as well as coupled problems involving CFD such as Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI), thermally-driven flows or Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT).
Message/Slogan: After wondering wether to or to not present myself for the KTC, @jcotela and @RiccardoRossi finally encouraged me to do it. We all know that the community has astonishingly grown during the last two years, requiring more implication from all of us to make this growth sustainable. I would like to further help to this not only from the design committee but also from the KTC.
During the lasts years I have been one of the most active developers of the community. Due to my research topics, I have been deeply involved in the developing of several applications (e.g. FluidDynamicsApplication, FSIApplication or ConvectionDiffusionApplication) as well as in multiple main functionalities of the KratosCore. Thanks to this, I think I reached a wide knowledge level about what Kratos is and its phylosophy as well as about its structure and functionalities. I think that this new broad vision could be valuable for next KTC.
Presenting for the KTC for the 1st time
Full Name: Alejandro Cornejo @AlejandroCornejo
Who am I? Hello! I am Alejandro Cornejo and I am a Civil Engineer and PhD Candidate at CIMNE since 2016. My research is focused on the coupled FEM-DEM formulation (fracture mechanics) and I am very active in the field of Composite Materials, Constitutive Laws development for solids together with Contact Mechanics and remeshing techniques. I am also a member of the @KratosMultiphysics/implementation-committee.
Message / Slogan: I feel very concerned about the new coming users. I think that the first steps into Kratos are really difficult and we must do something to encourage its use via more documentation, personal assistance, video tutorials, etc. For me this is a must and I will work hard on that idea. On the other hand, I am a very active person in the field of Solid/Structural Mechanics and I can offer my perspective from this point of view to the KTC when discussing all the requirements that other developers may need.
@KratosMultiphysics/all :
Remember that you will only be allowed to vote if you register! Follow the instructions in the initial post of this issue.
Presenting for the KTC for the 1st time
Full Name: Philipp Bucher @philbucher
Who am I? I am Philipp, PhD student at the Chair of Structural Analysis at TUM in Munich. I joined Kratos ~ 3 years ago when I did my master thesis (partly at CIMNE). A large part of my research is about the coupling of different physics and the data exchange among different computational domains (mapping), in particular in MPI. My main applications are the simulation of wind turbines and other real world applications from civil engineering. In order to be able to simulate such cases I need to make use of many features that Kratos offers. Due to this I am actively contributing to many things in Kratos, from the Core (e.g. AnalysisStage) over StructuralMechanics, MeshMoving, Mapping, CoSimulation to Fluid/Chimera. Currently I am member of the @KratosMultiphysics/design-committee.
Message / Slogan: I was encouraged by several colleagues from TUM and CIMNE to present myself for the KTC since I am already very actively involved in many developments all across Kratos. Due to the knowledge and expertise I gained over the years I think I am a good addition to the KTC. Also this would be the first time someone from TUM is member of the KTC.
My goal is to make Kratos even more useable than it is today, giving the new users a smooth start as well as providing experienced developers with the necessary freedom to continue doing the amazing things that made Kratos what it is today.
