Klipper: Help needed with TMC5160 (BigTechTree 1.2) and SKR 1.4

Created on 9 Jun 2020  路  2Comments  路  Source: KevinOConnor/klipper

Hi. I am using a SKR 1.4 and it's TMC5160 drivers to make a big pen plotter (2mx2m). I am using motors with 1:4 planetary gears for the vertical axis, and normal one on the other axis. I'm getting a lot of resonance and missing steps in rapid movements, and I cannot manage to discern whether the changes that I am doing to the config file do anything at all, since most of the information I find relates to, well, 3D printers and not such a huge machine with 2.8A and 2A motors.

Does anyone have experience with this or could give some light on the issue? What mode do you recommend? Is DCStep working with Klipper? What is the best way to configure StealthChop2? I want to find a good midpoint between resonance and speed. What is the best way to find this?

Also, how important is the diag1 pin? Do I have to solder anything with this board (v1.2) or is it good out of the box?

Thank you very much.

Hi @acastles91,

It did not look like there was a Klipper log file attached to this ticket. The log file has been engineered to answer common questions the Klipper developers have about the software and its environment (software version, hardware type, configuration, event timing, and hundreds of other questions).

Unfortunately, too many people have opened tickets without providing the log. That consumes developer time; time that would be better spent enhancing the software. If this ticket references an event that has occurred while running the software then the Klipper log must be attached to this ticket. Otherwise, this ticket will be automatically closed in a few days.

For information on obtaining the Klipper log file see: https://github.com/KevinOConnor/klipper/blob/master/docs/Contact.md

The log can still be attached to this ticket - just add a comment and attach the log to that comment.
