Using QuickShortcut or Island to make one I get:
What I would like? Treat shortcuts just like apps.
Created an initial commit to overcome this ussue: https://github.com/Neamar/KISS/pull/680
I am having this same issue with the latest realease on f-droid, shorcuts added from ghost commander or firefox are only shown in search
I鈥檝e noticed that the initial commit for fixing this issue was closed due to nobody being able to test it at the time. I can test the commit on my Android 6.0 tablet and give feedback on the thread if somebody reopened it. I really like how lightweight this launcher is, but this issue doesn鈥檛 allow a user to go even lighter by comfortably using web-apps. It鈥檚 frustrating to always go through search, when you could just tap icons. So please, fix this issue.
Edit: Reworded.
Though I read that testing of #680 on Oreo (8.0) was what was lacking, due to @Neamar not having such. I only have 7 and 9 (Marshmallow and Pie) currently (in the shape of LineageOS).
Another issue I want to add to the pile:
Icon packs only apply over an icon for matching names, until support for manually selecting an app icon is implemented.
I tried to create a shortcut with the same name as an app, so the shortcut would get a specific icon.
Kiss refuses to add the shortcut, but it must exist somewhere because I get an error from kiss about this shortcut every time it restarts. I can do nothing to resolve it.
@AeliusSaionji grab a log for the error
@Neamar Hello, I'm on oreo and I'm willing to compile and test #680, if it's still considered, and provide whatever is needed (logs, screenshots, etc). Related to #1339.
Hello!
The issue was actually the opposite, you have to have a phone before Oreo to be able to test :)
Oreo+ shortcuts are widldly different, and the OS also drops support for "legacy" shortcuts: now, only the home app can access shortcuts for privacy reasons.
I'm not a big fan of this issue, because it's talking about too many different things -- it's a bucket list of stuff disliked about shortcuts, but it contains too much stuff to actually have a proper conversation about them. I'm going to break it into smaller issues so that we can see what is useful for everyone and understand the needs better.
(for instance, I don't think shortcuts should be treated like apps -- they're not.)
