Kibana: Add manage Visualization in folder

Created on 23 Aug 2017  路  6Comments  路  Source: elastic/kibana

When we have many Visualization (More then 100) in production environnement, it becomes hard to manage it , so i suggest to add a feature to manage Visualization in folder something like in SSRS (Sql server reporting services) :
report-manager-1a

Visualizations KibanaApp enhancement

thx for the feature request @nasirus. I can see how this would be valuable. You seem to want the ability to organize your visualizations in folders.

As a work-around, right now, you could add some description to your visualization and search on that. Current users often now use structured values in these description fields to make searching easier. For example: "groupFoo - line chart for foo", "groupFoo - histogram for foo", "groupBar - line chart for bar"

That isn't a "work around" it's just the only option since there is only one editable field. Combined with the "add a panel" screen of dashboards maxing out at 10 visualizations per page(_why_), it doesn't take long for Kibana to have a very limited usefulness beyond the discovery feature(the Elastic documentation failing to mention that importing the beats dashboards will cause it to dump an extra 1000 visualizations into that list was a fun surprise).

I can not give this to users who want dashboarding, the fact that tickets covering this topic have been getting closed for the past 5 years without being accepted as a major usability issue worth fixing is troubling.

any news to this topic ?
the feature is needed !
