Kedro: How do you feel about a public discussion forum for Kedro support?

Description

We're about to kick off a process of opening up a public discussion forum! We've always known that the maintenance of GitHub Issues and Stack Overflow is not sufficient support.

This might take a while because we have to work with internal structures to get this right. In the meantime, we wanted to get your thoughts on which platforms we should prioritize. Your vote could be based on preference or knowledge about industry-standard platforms for open-source software.

It would be great if each post can be searchable by Google.
To the best of my knowledge, Slack posts are not reachable by Google.

I agree with this, one widely used platform (things like CircleCI, Monzo, etc...) use https://www.discourse.org (made by one of the StackOverflow co-founders I believe) which is great as a community _forum_. But I wonder how much it adds over github issues. It's less IRC style, like Gitter/Slack/Discord are though.

I really like community that streamlit is building on https://discuss.streamlit.io/. It seems quite searchable within the platform, I just checked and google picks it up quite well. It also holds history a bit better like stack overflow or a traditional forum does compared to slack.

Did DiscordApp come up in any of your discussions, its really a cool community-based interface?

It did, I actually prefer Discord the most for administrative control. It has the best admin experience out of all of these platforms. For instance, it's easy to see who's on a team, either as a maintainer or super active contributor. However, our InfoSec team found their security settings lacking when compared to Slack so... Slack it is.

Good to know. Maybe the DiscordApp chaps might be better off knowing about them. In time if they fix the security gap, it could be a platform to switch to.

Hi @yetudada! I was wondering whether there have been any updates on this. I would love to trial Kedro but I am missing a place to ask small sneaky questions that do not really fit the stackoverflow format. :)
