Karate: Question: How to reuse and modify only few elements of json

Question: I have a big request json and for every test case I should only modify few elements in json.
I am trying to have one request json as common file for all tests and just modify the required elements for each test using def variable. Is it possible? IF yes, please let me know how.
I tried a few approaches and that didn't work.

Excellent. It's very useful. When is this release planned? I will put all my tests (depending on this enhancement) on hold and resume once you release the changes.Thanks!

you can actually start using 0.5.0.7 so you don't need to put anything on hold. but expect a final release within 2 weeks.
