After updating macOS to 10.15.7, the Karabiner Elements driver fails to load, even after allowing it in system preferences:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled from a fresh download of Karabiner Elements, and also tried the Deactivate/Activate sequence described in the screenshot.
I have the same issue today
Same - downgrading to https://github.com/pqrs-org/Karabiner-Elements/releases/tag/v12.10.0 fixes things for me thankfully!

Driver won't load for me either. The "Allow" button does appear in the Security & Privacy pane; however pressing it seems to have no effect. The following messages appear in the Console log when pressing "Allow":

And yet Karabiner still does not seem to recognize the driver is loaded.
same problem as in OP, rebooting becomes very slow too, as reported in #2484
Thanks for the tip to downgrade to https://github.com/pqrs-org/Karabiner-Elements/releases/tag/v12.10.0
The driver loaded after installing it, no reboot needed. I think I'm going to stay on this version and probably never update to BigSur. This whole OS update is the absolute opposite of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". What they did was "whatever works, make sure to try and break it".
@brokofankone Big Sur is awful in many ways, but especially bad is the decreased contrast (makes text harder to read) and the increased border radius and padding (so much wasted space)
Having to brace myself for each update is tiring and antithetical to "it just works", because the updates do not work at all.
But i got downvoted in another thread because people seem to really love defending apple
