Karabiner-elements: Running Karabiner-Elements breaks cmd+Fx shortcuts in Intellij Idea

• Karabiner Elements 12.1.0
• Intellij Idea 2018.1.5

1. start Intellij Idea
2. shortcut cmd+Fx works (or fn+cmd+Fx depending on System preferences - Keyboard - Shortcuts - Function Keys settings)
3. start Karabiner-Elements
4. shortcut cmd+Fx/fn+cmd+Fx doesn't work, behaves like Fx/fn+Fx
5. quit Karabiner-Elements
6. everything works again
