Jackett: Jacket freezes itself every 12 hours

Created on 20 Aug 2018  路  26Comments  路  Source: Jackett/Jackett

Hi,

I have been running this server for about 3 days and noticed that every 12 hours aprox it hangs itself with no reason that I can get from the logs.

I run it from an Image of docker.

Jacket version is 0.10.54.0
Mono version is 5.14.0.177

Can you help me in resolve this?

Here I paste the log info

Connection reset by peer ---> System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: An error occurred while sending the request is not a crash its a genuine error. After that you continued getting successful results from other trackers

The aggregate indexer /all is not recommended. Recommend trying without it

Can't help with such little info, an enhanced log is needed, so we can see what happens when it 'crashes'

Every 12 hours.... this sounds like you may have the auto-update enabled, which according to the docket notes at https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/jackett/ you should disable to prevent problems.
So access your jackett dashboard on your browser, scroll down near the bottom, and turn on the checkbox for the disable auto update option, and then click on the apply server settings button to save.
See if that helps.

Hi, that i already checked on other issues and I have it disable.
Its randomly not just 12 hours, now it just hanged after 8 hours.

Are you using the LinuxServer docker?
Its got 44 million pulls so well tested
https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/jackett/

Yes, and it keeps hapenning for me.
This is the last log in which I had to restart the server.

Hi!

Same here, on a Proxmox 5.2-1, Jackett running inside an LXC container (together with Sonarr and Radarr and Lidarr).

The container is an Ubuntu 18.04.1-LTS.

The process stays active but for some reason it didn't respond.

Auto update disabled.

Jackett Version 0.10.80.0

I just updated Jackett to last version and still the same.

Ive been reading around and found this error , dont know if it means something related.

logg.txt

Jackett updated to the latest and greatest version (0.10.97.0) together with mono:

Mono JIT compiler version 5.14.0.177 (tarball Mon Aug 6 09:07:45 UTC 2018)
Copyright (C) 2002-2014 Novell, Inc, Xamarin Inc and Contributors. www.mono-project.com
TLS: __thread
SIGSEGV: altstack
Notifications: epoll
Architecture: amd64
Disabled: none
Misc: softdebug
Interpreter: yes
LLVM: yes(3.6.0svn-mono-/)
GC: sgen (concurrent by default)

and still silently randomly crashing.

By the way... I used to point both Radarr and Sonarr to Jackett itself, by following this tip, but in the last few days, Sonarr stopped to recognize Jackett, but Radarr that still works fine.

Now the question is to know if it is a Jackett issue or a Sonarr issue...

Getting random ~12 hour crashes installing Jackett through Quickbox then updating to latest version.

I have Lidarr, Radarr and Sonarr using Jacket as an indexer.

Hello @flightlevel

Thanks for reply.

And how should I use it? Would "/torznab/api" be the recommend way?

Thanks @flightlevel

I've done the enhanced error logs to check that, it just freezed again and here I have more detailed info.

log.txt.20180829.00054.txt

I found:

2018-08-29 20:50:12.3256 Debug Error while parsing DateTime "2 minutes ago", using layout "2006-01-02 15:04:05" (yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss): String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.

Would this be responsible of the freeze?

Thanks

@Zamana
The recommended way is to copy the link on the Jackett dashboard by clicking on the 'Copy Torznab Feed' button

@cybercar
What exactly do you mean by its 'crashing'? You aren't getting the results you expect or the program completely stops running.
From the logs, Jackett wasn't able to parse those particular records Error while parsing DateTime "29 minutes ago", using layout "2006-01-02 15:04:05" (yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss): String was not recognized as a valid DateTime. but it didn't crash, after those problem torrents, you then received Found 50 (0 new) releases from 1337x

@flightlevel ,

"Copy Torznab Fee' is the standard way to do it. But of course that, in despite of collateral issues, being able to point Sonarr/Radarr directly to Jackett is very convenient.

Regarding your question to @cybercar , in my case Jackett simply stop to respond silently. So silently that even my monitoring tools doesn't detect it quite well. Only Sonarr/Radarr complains about it.

By the way, in my case Jackett is running inside an LXC container through Proxmox. Sonarr/Radarr are running in LXC containers also, with the same Mono version, without any issues.

Regards.

@flightlevel Means that I cannot access the jacket webui server page and sonarr an radarr complains that the jackett server is down.

I'm wondering if this "silent crash" is similar to what I have seen on my win7 several times recently, where I find (using my task manager) that the jackettConsole task has been put in *suspended" mode. That would fit with the symptom where it stops responding but hasn't raised any flags with monitor tools because it has not actually abnormally ended running.
So the next time this happens take a look at the tasks/process lists and see if this is also the case for you here.

I was having similar problems (update disabled, jacket (both old and now 0.10.160.0) on a docker on arm getting "stuck" every day or every pair of days) and ive also seen problems using the mejortorrent indexer (since i also see that @cybercar uses it), it randomly gives errors and since yesterday its not working at all for me, also i found this today and i wonder if its related and i also wonder if that isnt happening on purpose to avoid indexers from working with that tracker, i come to that idea since the problems i had the last few months with mejortorrent are totally random both in timing and type of errors/problems, not consistent at all but heavily disrutive, allmost as if an actual human is behind it.

Pananoia aside i think the problems are related.

Sorry i have no idea how to reference properly, im new to github
edit: nvm i did reference properly, my bad

@TrashCanMan Maybe , im trying to test it.

Right now with the last Jackett Version 0.10.146.0 seems working like a charm.

@cybercar And mejortorrent works for you? atm im getting this #3754 on mejortorrent since 2 days ago...and the latest version i have is 0.10.160.0...

@TrashCanMan Yep, mejortorrent isnt working for me either, and since that jacket didnt freezed.
It must be related

I don't remember to used"mejortorrent", but after removing some trackers and keeping only the ones I used to visit directly, it seems that Jackett stopped to crash. But I really don't know which one can be the offending tracker.

@TrashCanMan Today Mejortorrent is working and my jackett crashed again, seems that theres the problem.

Maybe @ivanbeldad can help here

Since I鈥檝e removed Mejortorrent from Jackett it didnt crash again, seems that it has to be fixed.

Same problem here. At least 12 hours running this container and hangs. I discovered when some indexer is down..freezes itself, and then i have to restart it and update indexers in radarr/sonarr because all the communication between jackett and radarr/sonarr is lost.
please give me some help.
Thanks in advance!

I have solved it by dissabling the mejortorrent tracker.

Can confirm it is still breaking. I have some more information for you. I am using the torznab/all way of pointing sonar and radarr to jackett. I have also noticed it is either radarr or sonarr casuing the crashes. Have not had time to test this extensively but I had jackett plugged into one for weeks without a crash, plugged it into both and the crash happened. Might be some clues in the information given? As a workaround I restart the jackett service every hour.

Repeatable method to freeze jackett:

  1. Use the torznab/all - http://localhost:**/torznab/all - as the URL in Radarr
  2. Test for a few days. Note if jackett has frozen/unresponsive.
  3. Complete remove Jackett from Radarr.
  4. Repeat for Sonarr.
  5. Note results after a few days.
  6. Plug both sonarr and radarr into jacket using the http://localhost:**/torznab/all method.

Guaranteed you will get some stability and some crashes using the above method.

Also can confirm crashes are happening on docker and a Linux Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Server.

Finally, I would say the crashes happen even more frequently than 12 hours. Perhaps even 4 or 6 hours for me.

EDIT: Am going to try disabling merjor torrent on my other jackett instance and see if crashes are resolved
EDIT2: Disabling Mejortorrent fixes the crashing for me. Thank you @cybercar
