Keyboard should start with lowercase characters. Also utilize maybe the function keys that you can edit in iOS and add maybe like a / or something. Also a doule tap on the log should close the keyboard too :)
Would need to be able to open the keyboard in a non-awkward way. Please don't implement tap-to-open since that can get quite annoying, instead maybe try to add some button in the top or bottom right?
I don't know if I want to waste screen space on a button like that.
How about double tap to hide/unhide the keyboard?
Double tap is how it works in many apps anyways. DO IT!
Bit old now, but perhaps an idea? This both has buttons to hide the keyboard and common keys like control, alt, tab and escape. Instead of having a down arrow, a double-tap could be used as mentioned above. This addition also adjusts the colour automatically to match the keyboard's, so any differences between iOS 10 and iOS 11 shouldn't be an issue. It also works perfectly with the iPhone X (why wouldn't it?). Hiding the keyboard works as well.
This is also related to #4 and #13.

Button functionality for all the keys except the hide button TBD.
@Mnpn03 could you open a PR with that actually?
Termux for android uses volume down as control. That way you can actually physically hold it. Might be an idea?
Apple specifically says volume buttons cannot be used for anything besides adjusting volume.
This is now implemented. #21
