Cloning currently only clones jails.
iocage clone foo foobar

@skarekrow: So this has already been a feature? Or just wrong documentation? I would like to create a weekly clone of the "master"-jail without the need to shut it down first and a snapshot was my first way to go. It would be cool to have this snapshot feature or a way to clone a jail without shutdown (maybe through automatic snapshot on clone).
Not yet, but it's an easy enough ask I can see about getting done :)
